Wherever you are, you should know one thing: Greece’s famous summer is happening right now.

I come from Ancient Mantineia, outside Tripolis. The best holiday I have ever had in Greece was in the summer of, I think, 2004. I lived permanently in America and had come with a Greek childhood friend. We went to Serifos and Sifnos.

One destination that I did not expect to be so thrilled by is Karpathos, with its wild landscapes, unique Olympos village and, of course, some of the best beaches I have ever been to.

For the last two years the Marketing Greece team has been taking the readers of DiscoverGreece.com on a journey through all the wonderful Greek destinations.

One of the places I will never forget is the island of Rhodes. A cultural crossroads with centuries-old history and a procession of peoples that have all left their mark on every town, village and building.

That’s it. Enough! All that writing about Greece was too much for us so we downed tools and headed off for a holiday of our own
